This remarkably beautiful and striking piece has been hand thrown, and is one of a kind. Extremely distinctive, with the decorative copper wire that separates the three different sections of color and texture. It has a matte finish with blue and green colors and with highlights of copper flashing. It is 4" tall and 5" in diameter. The bowl is signed on the bottom for identification.
Raku pottery is bisque fired, glazed and refired to 1800º. It is removed from the kiln at this time and placed into a container full of straw and other objects. The piece ignites with the materials and the flame produces the gorgeous colors. In this case, the process produced copper highlights.
The form is that of a bowl with straight walls, divided into three sections. The middle of the three sections has a hand produced textured surface. All three sections are contrasting in nature. The copper wiring adds a decorative touch.
This would be an excellent addition to any professional collection, or simply used as a decorative accent piece, at home in any period of design.
Only one of these pieces has been produced. Anyone would be lucky to add it to their collection.
