Found here is one of the more subtle platters designed only for hanging. It is signed 'Vugg.' The platter is 11 ½" across, giving it a dominant and commanding presence. It was made in the 1970’s and shows off many of the characteristics of the era.

The colors are rose, brown, white, and grey. They are muted in character and blend together beautifully to make a ‘whole.’ Only the grey figurations really stand out from the bulk of the piece. What distinguishes the colors on the piece is the raised effect they have from the background. The piece is truly abstract. It is conceived to be a painting or a drawing.

This work must have a blank background, with no other patterns or colors present. The piece could easily be cancelled out without a lot of space. There is a fair amount going on here design-wise, and causes one to want to walk closer to see the detail. It can be studied for long periods of time.

I feel this work is gallery material. It is certainly of that quality, and I am proud to present it in this Gallery. Take advantage of the opportunity to acquire a piece like none other. It is truly an excellent example of the studio art movement in the clay world.
