For sale is a large, totally abstract platter or charger that has no reference to any preexisting figurations or plan. This piece is a brilliant example of spontaneous inspiration. Its colors range from a dark chocolate to light beiges, all used to create the composition’s figurations. The piece is almost 15 inches across, giving it a powerful presence and very dominant appearance. It has a large rim that gives the piece a framed effect.
Within the ‘frame’ and continuing off the edge of the piece the composition continues, giving it an endless feeling. The edge is not the end.
The piece was found at a Cincinnati estate sale within a fine pottery collection. The back of it has an illegible signature, at least to me, which is hardly important in a piece of this nature because of its superior craftsmanship. It appears to have been executed by a seasoned artist, an important figure. One could research its provenance if they wanted or needed to.
The charger could be used in a utilitarian way, but most likely it was conceived to be a wall installation. The piece would require some room because of its dominance.
Take advantage of owning this truly effective and expertly constructed art piece. Its value will escalate with time.
