The Noe Studio Art Pottery is known for its gorgeous, classically shaped and proportioned works. Many are ancient in form and design, with a slightly modern twist, owing to the extraordinary glaze work featured on them. The one featured here is one of the best examples.
This pot measures 3 ½" high and 4" wide at the middle point. It begins with a rounded bottom, flares out, back in, and is completed by a somewhat mushroom like top with about a 2" circular opening. This design is somewhat architectural with a squatty and very solid appearance. It is very heavy for its size.
The visible base is glazed in a red clay color, a glossy brown. The bottom is white. The center portion is a gorgeous matte green. The top is the same with a very abstractly flowing semi-flat glaze that is light blue. It drips about one third of the way down the pot.
This is truly a distinguished piece of pottery. It shows great throwing skills and masterful glazing techniques. The proportions are perfectly resolved. It would do very well by itself, as it attracts and commands attention, but could also be part of a well thought-out collection. Some of the pieces that would work well with it can be found on this sight. It is a masterpiece in diminutive proportions.
