An excellent example of extremely sophisticated art pottery is offered here. It is a medium- to dark- brown color, and is composed of a vase body with a complementary lid. The piece measures seven inches high.

The novel and extraordinary feature of this piece is its appearance as a wonderful sculpture because of the unusual tracery and graceful, ‘cut outs’ found all over its body. They are large and plenteous, with each one traced around its opening with incisions. It develops from a small but substantial base upward and outward to the widest portion of the piece. There is more tracery around the circumference before the placement of the tight-fitting lid, crowned with a ‘knob’, or handle.

There are so many cut-outs that one sees through the piece from all directions around the circumference, leaving great lighting in the interior. This is an incredibly artistic and virtuosic piece of pottery, like none other I have seen. The artistry is extraordinary. Photos do it justice and there will be no surprises in its effect.

This can be used in a collection, but stands independently on its own. It will mix well with any style of décor and make a wonderful ‘curiosity’ piece. The viewer is truly puzzled as to how it was constructed, as I have been.
