For sale is a rather large scale bowl by well known artist Nancy Jurs. The piece measures 11 ¾" across, and approximately 4" high. The piece is slightly free form in design, and Miss Jurs is perfectly comfortable with its being a spontaneous creation and not a piece that has been carefully made to look perfectly symmetrical.
It is glazed with a red clay color on the interior while the generous rim is a dark gray. All of it is done with a matte finish. The bottom is not glazed and bears her signature. What a very valuable prize this piece is.
It was crafted during the 70’s and 80’s at the Rochester Institute of Technology, School for American Craftsmen.
Nancy Jurs is internationally renowned and museum and gallery exhibited. She has very large scale pieces scattered all over the United States. She is known for her monolithic abstract sculptures that defy the art of the ceramic process. The Gallery is extremely proud to have this bowl, and another extremely important abstract work, that will be coming up soon, in its possession. This is an opportunity to own a piece that would normally be in a museum or permanent gallery collection.
