VICTOR  BABU

This gallery is fortunate to contain a piece by Victor Babu. He was not prolific, although his work is extraordinary. Owning one of his works is both rare and an important investment as time goes on.

Mr. Babu earned his Master of Fine Arts from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Study abroad included the Studio Art Centers International (SACI), Florence, Italy, including Art in Public Spaces. His post-graduate study included a BFA in Sienna, Italy, in Figure Drawing. His beginning was earning a BFA in Ceramics from Kansas City Art Institute, MO.

It would be impossible to list his vast teaching career, locations, and the many subjects that he taught. But, if pressed, one could generalize a concentration in the southwest (Tucson), to several areas in Ohio. He taught beginning Ceramics, Sculptural Tile Making, and Basic Wheel Throwing. Much of his teaching centered at the Tucson Museum of Art. He was the School Mural Coordinator and teacher of Pewabic Pottery in Detroit, MI. His teaching and workshops took him from California to Maine.

Some of his distinguished work was done with Peter Voulkos, Rudy Autio, Don Rietz and Paul Soldner. He is represented in many collections, both public and private. Important collections took his work to Italy.

Mr. Babu’s writings have been published, and his reputation as a teacher has placed him on jury panels. Lastly, he has been the recipient of many grants and awards - too many to list here, although they are available.

The Gallery is proud to have some of his work and hopes the very serious collector will take advantage of this opportunity.
